Do you tumble your bezels before putting the glass/shells in? Or do you hand polish? How do you get them so nice and shiny???
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping one day I'll have more time / energy to focus on perfecting my bezel making. I made a few last year but I was not happy with them.
Hi Casto- I sand them with 400 grit sand paper first to get out any major scratches, then I use the 3M polishing papers THEN I tumble them. And I tumble them with the sea glass, shells, etc already set. Hope this helps! :)

ReplyDeleteI had to quit when the stress of how much materials cost got worse than the stress I was escaping.

What is sea glass?
Hi Troy- the pottery, the sea glass and the shells are all things gathered off the beach.
ReplyDeleteSea glass (and the beach pottery) is what happens to trash (glass bottles, dishes, etc) once the ocean has it's way with it.
The small cobalt blue piece you see in the double pendant is likely the remnants of an old Noxema jar or medicine bottle.
The sand and waves run over the glass for hundreds of years, tumbling them smooth and soft like gems and then spit them back out onto the shores for people like me to collect.
