Sixteen years ago, a young, punky Englishwoman strolled along Scarborough Beach at dawn. I was alone on the continent: wondering, speculating, dreaming about who or what I would become over my year at URI. I picked up a handful of beach glass and blue-white china to remind me of home, and the weathering effects of this life. The next day I met Lexi, and within the week I met my future husband. Scarborough Beach lives on in my personal mythology as a defining point in my life, but my pile of beach-shards is long gone. I would truly treasure a piece of your jewellery, and would use it to tell my daughter about that fateful morning when the sun rose on the wrong side of the Atlantic.
