Thankful for running water.

>> Tuesday, August 30, 2011

Still no electricity, but at least with water I am able to percolate some coffee on the grill and use our solar shower to keep everyone clean.

The kids asked when we were going camping when they saw me take out this stuff. I told them we already were! :)

Maybe we'll pitch one of the tents tonight if the power is still out...

I walk the line

>> Wednesday, February 23, 2011

Well, the shoreline anyway. This is my pre-workout walk this morning. Dont be fooled, it is surely winter out here.
A balmy 28 degrees at the current moment. But the sun is warming and the wind is mild. These little birds are nuts to watch.

They run back and forth incessantly with the ebb and flow of the water looking for tiny particles to eat.

Who wouldnt want to take a walk here? Especially in the quiet desolation of winter? And I do mean desolate.
But that's the way I like it. The solitude is cleansing for me.
I always feel motivated and prepared after an hour
alone on the beach with my thoughts.

This place is a virtual ghost town in February. I suppose if I cant be someplace warm,
I can at least enjoy my home on rare, beautiful winter day, right?

Narragansett Mariners first game of the year- a scrimmage against Tolman High, the best team in the division last year.

Austin is number 65

That's him on the bottom of that pile!

Just before his first tackle!

Is it me or is he looking BIG for a freshman?!

Down to the little beach in our neighborhood.

"Mama, it's my twiggly stick magic wand!"

"Mama, I'm digging to China!"

I love these kids.

Luck of the Irish

Went for a walk on my beach today with Avery and our good friend, Paula.

There was supposed to be lots of beach erosionso we thought the sea glass pickins would be good today. We wandered almost all the way down the beach and found nothing. Then we hit the motherload!

This is just my haul. Paula's got even keener eyes than I do and has an equally impressive pile!

Noteworthy finds- buttons, beads, watch parts, pottery shards, cobalt blue (scarce around here) a tiny shard of jadeite and pale lavender pieces (next to the cobalt blue.)

Look at all the shades of green!

I guess being born Tara Michala Kelly gave us a wee bit o' luck this day. Our bags were so heavy and full, we couldn't carry them anymore!

Topped it off with our first visit of the season to Iggy's for fresh clamcakes and chowda. Mmmmmmm!

Don't you wish you were here with us?
