This past Saturday we took our annual (this is our second year and we plan to do it again next year, so that makes it "annual" now right?) trip out to Block Island, RI with the motorcycles.
A gorgeous day riding around the island and stopping at the beaches to wade, look for sea glass and relax.
I was lucky enough to find the first piece of glass
Over the past weekend, I got to (finally!) get together with a group of sea glass enthusiasts I know from an online community. Folks from all over RI, MA and CT gathered and braved the spitting rain and chilly weather to hunt for glass together.
After we hunted, we were invited back to one gal's house for a fabulous spread of wine, cheeses, handmade pizza and crudités!

This is me, de-sanding and sorting. This is ritual, I do it every time. 
Apparently I have sea glass sorting OCD as I was the ONLY person out of around 15 to do it...as you can see by everyone elses piles.

Two marbles- the one on the left is referred to as "bonfire glass" as it was melted before being swept out to sea. The right- a stunning icy blue with a cornflower blue swirl. These were found by my friend Gara, lucky girl!

A wonderful afternoon with lovely new friends! Once I wash and sort all my glass (again), I'll post more photos of my finds.
On a morning that began with sun and the promise of warmth, a hunter was beckoned to the sea. Once she arrived, Mother Nature decided if this hunter was going to be successful, she would be put to a test. The hunter braved the cold rain and nasty wind that rolled in under a sky of grey clouds and was rewarded for her efforts...
and I'm exhausted. Spent the afternoon driving my darling best friend around to the neurosurgeon in the pouring rain down big speedy highways. Now I am home and in no mood to blog. So instead I'll just share some photos from a relaxing, non rainy day.
My big sis came to visit from NH over the weekend (to pick up the window I made her). She'd never been sea glassing before so I took her to the beach. Results below:

Back at my house we sort out our haul
Went for a walk on my beach today with Avery and our good friend, Paula. 
There was supposed to be lots of beach erosion
so we thought the sea glass pickins would be good today. We wandered almost all the way down the beach and found nothing. Then we hit the motherload! 
This is just my haul. Paula's got even keener eyes than I do and has an equally impressive pile!
Noteworthy finds- buttons, beads, watch parts, pottery shards, cobalt blue (scarce around here) a tiny shard of jadeite and pale lavender pieces (next to the cobalt blue.)

I guess being born Tara Michala Kelly gave us a wee bit o' luck this day. Our bags were so heavy and full, we couldn't carry them anymore!
Topped it off with our first visit of the season to Iggy's for fresh clamcakes and chowda. Mmmmmmm!
