"Out for delivery"

I get all giggly and giddy when I track a package online and discover that it's going to be at my house in mere hours! I have been busy shopping Etsy and eBay for the past two weeks buying pretty things for my living and dining rooms. If you saw my post about my old, ugly chair, you spied one of my new aquisitions sitting upon my fabulous turquoise throne!

Here's a reminder peek --------->

Once today's parcels arrive, I'll gather all my goodies up for a photo shoot and I'll provide links to the shops where I bought them in case my excitement oozes through the computer monitor and inspires you to add some pretty to a room in your own home!

And don't forget to visit my giveaway post!

Only 5 more comments needed before I add the next item!

Painting Kitchen Cabinets- What I did today

>> Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Not a very exciting day, but Avery and I went out to visit best friends Jen and Walker on Maplewood Farm and Jen and I tackled her kitchen cabinets this morning.

They were this lovely shade of *ahem* diarrhea upset tummy orange. Sorry but they were.

In 5 hours we managed to entertain 2 little boys, feed them lunch and send one off to kindergarten- In addition to stripping (6 layers of paint including the aforementioned orange, Mylanta mint green, lemon yellow, stale old beige, dirty sock white and doo-doo brown- why are so many paint colors so heinous?!), sanding and priming the entire bottom section of cupboards AND their doors.

Once the primer dries, they'll be painted the same soft green color as the wainscoting that runs around the rest of the kitchen walls. (Which you can sort of see peeking out from behind our disastrous mess in both photos!)

And that's what I did today. Phew!

Sea Glass Mosaic Shelf/Coat Rack for my Bathroom

>> Monday, February 1, 2010

I wish I could find the "before" photo of this little coat rack. I bought it in the clearance section after Christmas for $.75- it was white with 4 large plastic snowmen on it (one over each hook). I pried them off, filled and sanded the holes they left behind and then added a little mosaic of sea glass, sand dollars and starfish. I've hung it in my (very green) bathroom helping to make the green a bit more bearable until I can get around to toning it down some!

It took me a Sunday afternoon football game to go from before to after. :)

Before and After- my little living room end table

>> Friday, January 29, 2010

I mentioned in a previous post that I found a table in the clearance section of the store marked down from $100 to $36 because there was some red paint on it and also some damage around one of the knobs.

I used a little wood filler to fix the crushed area around the knob

Gave a light sanding to knock down the shine of the green paint and also to smooth out the wood filler

Then I dry brushed a layer of "Beach White" by Behr. This is leftover paint from my kitchen cabinets and trim work in the living and dining areas.

After letting the paint dry for 24 hours, I came at it with some sand paper to allow some of the green to peek through from beneath the white and I used Weldbond glue to adhere some little pecten shells to the knobs.

Here's the finished table in my living room

And this is what happens when I start playing around with pretty stuff

What I'm loving right now

>> Sunday, January 17, 2010

The new LL Bean Home catalog came yesterday and I am officially in love with:

the moon beam clock
How adorable would this be on your bedside table?

Lobster Buoy House Numbers
I can't wait to do something like this for our house after we paint this spring, just charming!

Coastal Hurricane Lamp
This is just lovely, it seems to give a warm and cozy glow on cold New England nights but it fits perfectly into a beach or nautical themed room!

Sea Glass Wreath (I might need to try making one of these!!!)
This thing is just killer- How stunning it would be against a crisp white wall!

Longitude/Latitude Sign
These are awesome! Just let them know your zip/postal code when you order and they'll customize one for you!
